You can just cut a thin piece of post-it note and stick it on the monitor, that works better with the high contrast bloom most environment and chaos would give. I am myself using AIMP that forces "now playing" bar on top of the screen even in game and yet everything is fine. If it just forces itself to be atop of any other program and not linked with ingame files anyhow so it is safe.

Why not install rainmeter, add a dot and make it over all aplication layers so it's visible at all times. Has anyone used something like this? What's been your experience with it? Any other solutions short of sticking a piece of tape on my screen and using a sharpie? I love this game but as it is now I can barely play it. Why DE decided to go with a tiny white dot and give us no customization options is baffling, but that's a discussion for another time.

As far as the animations go I haven't noticed any performance decrease using them but my computer is slightly beefy (gtx 660), however, when I tried doing a decently large 30 fps crosshair on my shitty school laptop it didn't really start doing bad until it covered what was basically the whole screen. I know crosshair overlays are debated in games that are supposed to be 'realistic' but I see no problem with it. This one is using 18fps but it's sort of.a picture. Games like Rust or Dayz can go crazy with animations and what the crosshair looks like as well. Games like Tribes:Ascend are notorious for having the worst crosshairs so you can turn off the ingame one and use one of your own. Like the crosshair you have in a game but still lose track of it?
